Delicious Farm Raised Beef

Home raised on our farm northwest of Des Moines, Iowa.

Our cows are part of our family and we treat them accordingly. We follow practices that are low stress for handling of the cattle. We implement rotational grazing and keep our cows and calves out on grass 10 months out of the year.

The Momma cows graze cover crops and crop residue such as corn stalks and bean stubble through the winter with supplemental hay. When the calves are weaned in October at 7 months they are put on a hay/corn/oat and protein feed and finished at the age of 14-16 months of age.

We use the best genetics for our cow herd which is predominantly Angus with a few Angus/Hereford cross cows.

Our cattle grade high choice and prime.

When purchasing meat from our farm you have a few choices:  1/4,  1/2,  3/4, or whole beef.

You can customize how you'd like your meat cut and packaged.

A traditional cut of beef would yield:

  • Approximately 50% of our cut would be ground beef
  • T-bone steaks
  • Ribeye steaks
  • Sirloin steaks
  • Roasts; chuck, rump, rib, and arm
  • Stew meat
  • Soup bones

Here are a few things to keep in mind when ordering:

  • Cuts you don't want can be ground into additional ground beef
  • Beef patties are available
  • Customize cut thickness and packaging
  • Something you don’t see above that you want, just ask-we can customize your order
  • Weights can’t be exact as we don’t know the weight of the animal until the time of harvest
  • Our fees for the meat based on the current market which is typically between $2.50 and $2.75/lb carcass weight.
  • You will pay a fee to the locker for the processing which is roughly $220 per ¼
  • Beef is dry aged accordingly
  • When it’s all said and done, you get all the steaks and ground beef for roughly the price of ground beef at the grocery store
  • Discounts are available for whole beef purchases
  • Your meat you purchase will last in your freezer under proper conditions for over 1 year

Depending on how much you cook at how and how many there are of you, an average family will eat ¼ of beef a year. However we are a family of 4 and eat 1 whole beef (I guess we aren’t average).
